Jesus the King

But one of the elders said to me, Do not weep. Behold, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has prevailed to open the scroll and to loose its seven seals.

Revelation 5:5

Jesus is the root of David who conquered sin and death by dying on the cross.

Jesus is the one whom men have despised and disdained,

Who has believed our report?
And to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed?
For He shall grow up before Him as a tender plant,
And as a root out of dry ground.
He has no form or comeliness;
And when we see Him,
There is no beauty that we should desire Him.
He is despised and rejected by men,
A Man of sorrows and acquainted with grief.
And we hid, as it were, our faces from Him;
He was despised, and we did not esteem Him.
Surely He has borne our griefs
And carried our sorrows;
Yet we esteemed Him stricken,
Smitten by God, and afflicted.
But He was wounded for our transgressions,
He was bruised for our iniquities;
The chastisement for our peace was upon Him,
And by His stripes we are healed.
All we like sheep have gone astray;
We have turned, every one, to his own way;
And the Lord has laid on Him the iniquity of us all.

Isaiah 53:1-6

This passage tells us what Jesus suffered, he came to earth with humility, he took our sins. Jesus agreed to take our place on the cross and that is what he did.

Jesus has accomplished everything on the cross, he is worthy to reign over all things.

Jesus has won the victory, he has conquered, by sacrificing himself to the cross he has conquered death, death has no longer power over those who gave their lives to Christ.

And in that day there shall be a Root of Jesse,
Who shall stand as a banner to the people;
For the Gentiles shall seek Him,
And His resting place shall be glorious.

Isaiah 11:10

Jesus is the good news,

The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me,
Because He has anointed Me
To preach the gospel to the poor;
He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted,[j]
To proclaim liberty to the captives
And recovery of sight to the blind,
To set at liberty those who are oppressed;
To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord

Luke 4:18-19

Jesus came to deliver men from their captivity due to sins, now through the sacrifice of the cross we can declare that we are free in Jesus Christ.

Jesus is the Saviour, Jesus is King.

I, Jesus, have sent My angel to testify to you these things in the churches. I am the Root and the Offspring of David, the Bright and Morning Star.
