Jesus the Lamb of God

The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!

John 1:29

Under the law of the Old Testament, when someone committed a sin, he had to sacrifice to obtain forgiveness.
We could offer different animals, such as pigeons, lambs, oxen.
But the problem with this rule is that it was every time again, for the forgiveness of sins committed new.

Here in the Gospel of John, there is talk of a Lamb, this Lamb is Jesus-Christ.

Coming on earth, Jesus was to save men, as

without shedding of blood there is no remission.

Hebrews 9:22

The only way for us to be saved, is there a pure being who offers his life for us.

This is what Jesus did two thousand years ago in Golgotha, Jesus took our place on the cross of Calvary, Jesus redeemed us.

knowing that you were not redeemed with corruptible things, like silver or gold, from your aimless conduct received by tradition from your fathers, but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot. He indeed was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you who through Him believe in God, who raised Him from the dead and gave Him glory, so that your faith and hope are in God.

1 Peter 1:18-21

By dying in sacrifice on the cross, Jesus made the perfect sacrifice, he is the Lamb of God.
This sacrifice was performed two thousand years ago, but it is still valid today and until the return of Jesus, we no longer need the blood of goats and pigeons.

Jesus gave his own life,

No one takes it from Me, but I lay it down of Myself
John 10:18

Yet He opened not His mouth; He was led as a lamb to the slaughter,
Isaiah 53:7

Jesus did it all on the cross,

And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross. Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name.

Philippians 2:8-9

One day the church will be with her Savior,

Let us be glad and rejoice and give Him glory, for the marriage of the Lamb has come, and His wife has made herself ready. And to her it was granted to be arrayed in fine linen, clean and bright, for the fine linen is the righteous acts of the saints. Then he said to me, Write: Blessed are those who are called to the marriage supper of the Lamb! And he said to me, These are the true sayings of God.

Revelation 19:7-9

We rejoice in the grace of God, God wants to offer us this grace,

For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.

1 Timothy 2:3-4

God invites you to accept Jesus as your personal Lord and Savior.
