Jesus the Messiah

We find in the Old Testament several prophecies announcing the coming of the Messiah, as for example the prophecy of Isaiah 61.

The Spirit of the Lord God is upon Me, Because the Lord has anointed Me To preach good tidings to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to the captives, And the opening of the prison to those who are bound;
To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord, And the day of vengeance of our God; To comfort all who mourn,
To console those who mourn in Zion, To give them beauty for ashes, The oil of joy for mourning, The garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; That they may be called trees of righteousness, The planting of the Lord, that He may be glorified.

Isaiah 61:1-3

The Messiah is announced as a liberator, a comforter, one who would bring good news, he who would heal the sick, who would raise up those who are in distress.

Jesus is the Messiah, he came to offer us freedom, he came to fill our sad hearts with love and joy, Jesus healed the sick, and he heals even today because he is alive.

And by His stripes we are healed.

Isaiah 53:5

The good news that Jesus came to bring us is that we are freed from sin by his sacrifice to the cross, we are reconciled with God.

Some Jews thought that the Messiah would deliver them from the hand of the Romans, but the deliverance that Jesus brought is not a political or military deliverance, but Jesus offers us a much greater deliverance, he offers us deliverance on the power of Death and sin, because he has conquered death, he is holy and death could not hold him back.

Jesus gives us the privilege of coming freely to God.

If we walk with Christ, we are free, we are a new creation in Christ.

Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed.

John 8:36

Jesus is the Messiah, the Christ, the anointed of the living God:

Also we have come to believe and know that You are the Christ, the Son of the living God

John 6:69

Jesus is truly the Messiah, the one announced by God, Jesus is the Saviour, the deliverer of humans from slavery, death and the condemnation of sin.

Let us be free, Jesus came to set us free, if you put your life into his hands He will set you free.
